Sivakumar's advice to son Karthi

Posted: 16 Sep 2008 09:50 AM CDT

This is that period of time in the Tamil film world that almost every hero wants to sport a six-pack-ab. After Shahrukh Khan displayed this supposed 'macho feature' in the film 'Om Shanti Om', almost every actor wants to sport one. Though surprising, Dhanush started it all in Tamil films displaying his abdomen in the film 'Polladhavan'.
Suriya decided to workout in order to obtain a six-pack-ab for Gautham Menon's 'Varanam Aayiram'. Since he had got into shape and it looked appealing on him, he wanted to continue with that look for his next project 'Ayan'. Now that his shooting portion for the film is over, reports suggest that he is back to his normal diet and workout.
Vishal had the packs for 'Satyam'. Looks like actors 'Jayam' Ravi and Vijay Arun too want to sport six-packs and are currently working out.
At a function recently, Sivakumar met these young actors and was aghast to see their cheeks all sunken-in with an unhealthy look (the side effects in sporting a six-pack ab). On returning home, the veteran actor known to endorse a healthy body, got hold of his second son Karthi and spoke to him at length against entertaining any thoughts of having a six-pack.
Now that big brother has one….wouldn't kid brother want one too?

Tamanna signs up for 'Jab We Met' remake

Posted: 16 Sep 2008 09:40 AM CDT

Corporate production house Moser Baer is currently producing a slew of films and one of them is the Tamil remake of the successful Hindi film 'Jab We Met' that starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.
It is now confirmed and it is official. Tamanna will play the female lead of the film which is yet to be christened.
Bharath would don the male lead and would team up with Tamanna for the first time.
It is interesting to note that the first choice for the male lead was Dhanush. But then he was of the opinion that the role might be similar to his character in 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini'. Well, one has to recollect what happened earlier. Dhanush was the first choice for the film 'Kadhal' but then the actor turned it down giving the golden opportunity to Bharath.
Is history going to repeat itself here? Looks like it will.

It's Meena's b'day

Actress Meena who introduced herself to Tamil audiences shouting 'Rajini Uncle' in the film 'Anbulla Rajinikanth' celebrates her birthday on the 16th of September.
The actress graduated as a heroine with ease and was a major name to contend with all through the nineties and in the early years of the new millennium. Anjali does a chameleon

Posted: 16 Sep 2008 09:22 AM CDT

Actress Anjali, who became a familiar face after the film 'Katrathu Tamizh' is currently working in 'Angadi Theru' - a film directed by the talented director of 'Veyyil' Vasanthabalan.
Anjali plays a girl with rustic shades and hence was asked to reduce weight as well as get dark. Vasanthabalan proved his mettle with 'Veyyil' for his realistic approach. Obviously one can expect a lot of realism in 'Angadi Theru' as well.
The actress religiously worked on both aspects. She lost five kilos and stood for long hours in the sun to lose complexion.
The actress recounted her determination to lose color by saying, 'I used to stand in the sun for hours. But then when we went to shoot in a place called Thiruchendur, all of us became dark. The place had such scorching heat that every single one of us lost color'.
Only after the shooting for 'Angadi Theru' is complete will Anjali decide on her next Tamil film. However, the actress will commence work on two Telugu projects.
'Both roles are glamorous in nature' declares Anjali.

Sathyaraj gears up to Beat Kamal Haasan

Posted: 16 Sep 2008 09:02 AM CDT

Kamal Haasan played ten roles in 'Dasavatharam' and the film went on to become a box office success. With this film, Kamal Haasan has also broken the record set by Sivaji Ganesan in Tamil Cinema by playing nine characters in the film 'Navarathiri'.
Our man Sathyaraj does not seem to be happy with this. He is now planning to break the record set by Kamal Haasan by making a film in which he would play eleven characters. The film has been christened 'Avadharam 11'. Moreover, the film would be designed as a laugh riot and a spoof on 'Dasavatharam'.
Sathyaraj had in fact stopped playing conventional hero about ten years ago and still is mighty successful in attracting audiences. His films have attacked and spoofed the 'image' many actors have about themselves. Recreations of hit sequences with his inimitable comic way have gone on to bring the roof down with laughter. Sathyaraj even played 'Chandramukhi' as performed by Jyothika, acted as a person afflicted with short term memory loss aka Gajini and even danced like Silambarasan.
Keeping all this in mind, one gets the feeling that a spoof on 'Dasavatharam' might work wonders at the box office.

Vijaya Chiranjeevi – Indian Jackie Chan?

Posted: 16 Sep 2008 08:35 AM CDT

Popular stunt master Jaguar Thangam has worked in around 650 films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Oriya. For the very first time, this stunt master is turning producer and director. The name of the film is 'Surya' and Vijaya Chiranjeevi, son of Jaguar Thangam is introduced as action hero through this venture.
People who have seen the clips of the film are totally in awe at the performance of Vijaya Chiranjeevi in the action sequences. Probably trained in martial arts right from a tender age the young actor is simply stunning with his poise and trained execution. Among the many admirers who showered praises are members of the Censor Board. They are of the opinion that the young man is as impressive as Jackie Chan. Something that can make anybody proud.
A particular scene in the film depicts the plight of a young boy who is trapped inside a 70 feet hole and how the hero goes about rescuing him. This sequence according to reports has shaped up very well.
Obviously thrilled at the outcome, Jaguar Thangam happily announced that the film has been sold in almost all the centers and is expecting a huge opening. The debutant director also said that most Karate schools in Tamilnadu have expressed their desire to see the film.
Will Vijaya Chiranjeevi rock audiences with his spectacular stunts? We'll soon know.
