Pooja’s journey of roses and thorns Posted: 02 Mar 2009 10:53 AM CST Felicitating Pooja merely with a National Award isn't something about doing justice. Perhaps, she deserves something more estimable. She's been striding with her ethical traits that were well appreciated by Bala himself. Filming for 'Naan Kadavul' has been a road of thorns and roses for her. Says Pooja, 'Rather than saying Bala Sir is an excellent filmmaker, I would love ennobling him as a good human. He's been a perfect guide out for me planning my each shot. Well, as I knew my characterization, I had plans about making a visit to Blind School so that it could help me inherit some of their gestures and mannerisms. Due to time constraints, I was urged to miss this out and for a great surprise; Bala Sir had already worked on these attributes of body languages and behaviors of visually challenged peoples. So, how about the looks on her eyes? She says, 'Lens were really troubling me as I couldn't see anything from morning till evening. But once getting used to it, things were bit easier as I could identify things around me.' Fine! Any guesses about what could've been the ever hardest thing that the young missy had to go through? It was the mask Pooja had to put along her one side of the body that resulted more burns on her skins and it pained a lot for her for the makeover was being removed. Amidst of spending more laborious hours on this project, it was Bala who comforted her playing games and keeping her ambiences chilled. Of course, it's been Pooja redefining Bala with new dimensions who was adhered with misconceptions that he's a strict person with hard nature…

Jaylani in Kadathal Posted: 02 Mar 2009 10:51 AM CST Rajeswari of Indian Dream Makers who produced the film Pathu Pathu and Jaylani who produced the film Kelvi Kuri under the banner Eighth Cross Pictures is now jointly producing a film titled Kadathal. Jaylani who acted and directed the film Kelvi Kuri is doing the lead role in the film Kadathal. He is also directing this film. There will also be another hero in this film. He will be a new face. Jaylani is currently acting in a film titled Solli Therivadhillai directed by Chitirai Selvan. The first schedule of the film shooting has taken place in Hyderabad and in Kerala. The shooting of the film Kadathal has commenced on 19th.

Rahman for all the Tamilians as the music director has been far-famed across the world. Rahman returned before couple of days back from Los Angeles wining 2 Oscars at the same time. Indeed, as he returned to Chennai The Tamil Cine Musicians' Union felicitated him with prestigious honors. A day earlier, he fled to Mumbai for the 54th Filmfare Awards fetching couple of awards for Best Music Director (Jaane Ya Tu Jaane Na) and Best Original Score (Jodha Akbar). Vairamuthu pens five songs for Palaivana Solai Posted: 02 Mar 2009 06:53 AM CST popular yester year song Megame Megame and Aalana Aalu which featured in the film Palaivana Solai is being remixed for the remake version of Palaivana Solai. The shooting of this film has commenced and is progressing. Vairamuthu has penned five songs for this film. Palaivana Solai which was released in the year 1981 is being remade after 28 years. This film had Suhasini, Chandrasekar, Rajeev, Thyagu and Janakaraj in the cast. This film was directed by Robert- Rajashekar. Now in the remake version, Karthika of Dindigul Sarathi fame will do the role of Suhasini, Nithin Sathya will don the role of Chandrasekar. Abhinay will do the role which Rajeev did. The others in the cast are Chams, Sanjeev and Sathyan. Vital Prasad is doing an important role. S Dayalan who was earlier an assistant to K S Ravi Kumar has written the story, screenplay and dialogues. He is also directing this remake version. R Radhakrishnan is producing the film under the banner Maruthi Films.

Rahman who has honored Tamil Film Industry across the globe, Tamil Cine Musicians' Union took up the occasion of felicitating him. Speaking on the occasion, Rahman said 'All my praises for my parents who sowed the seeds and I have reaped the harvest'. Also added that many websites have been making abusive comments comparing him with other music directors. But that shouldn't be the traits of a good media. 'It's the aspiration for many musicians who immense talents and I've collected the awards on the behalf of them' Rahman said who continued adding the same appraisals in Tamil 'Ellam Pugalum Iraivan Oruvanuke'… Finally, he said that if musicians of Ancient India like Naushad didn't won Oscars, it was all about the fact that they weren't interested in bagging them. Maestro Ilayaraja on his turn said, 'there are only a few who possess immense talent and still go on to make it big. Rahman is a phenomenal musician. He added, 'If MSV is Athara Sruthi, I am Panchamam and Rahman is Panchamam'. Rahman made every Tamilian proud winning two Oscars in one year, he added. On his part, veteran director K Balachandar, who first introduced Rahman in his home production Roja, directed by Maniratnam, and said, 'Rahman is a rare genius. When other music composers make castles with their music, Rahman builds monuments'. Earlier, speakers including veteran music composers M S Viswanathan, producer A V M Saravanan, and playback singer S Janaki spoke. Ilayaraja presented Rahman with a golden chain while popular director Harris Jayaraj presented a golden ring to the Mozart of Madras. The function was hosted by by S A Rajkumar and Abu Gabriel of the musicians trust. Among those who took part included Shankar Ganesh, Deva, Srikanth Deva, Yuvanshankar Raja, Karthik Raja, Vijay Anthony, D Imman, T M Soundararajan, L R Eswari, Karthi, Chinmayi, Thippu, Chitra, Swarnalatha,Mano, drummer Shivamani among others….

Three fourth of Medhai shooting is over Posted: 02 Mar 2009 06:35 AM CST Medhai is the title of the film in which Ramarajan is acting after a long time. The crew could not get a heroine to pair with Ramarajan for a long time. Finally they had found a girl Kousika who is now pairing with Ramarajan. Three fourth of the shooting is over. Recently a song Nilavuku Pirandhaval Neeyo featuring Kousika and Ramarajan was shot at AVM Studios. Ramarajan wore his favorite costume dhoti and shirt for this sequence. Ramarajan plays a head master in a village school. He comes across a group of baddies and ends their atrocities in the village. Vadivelu, Charlie, Pithamaghan Mahadevan form part of the cast. Dhina has composed the music. Debutant T G Saravanan is directing this film.

Album Vizhiyum Saeviyum by Actor Vijay Vasanth Posted: 02 Mar 2009 06:33 AM CST Vizhiyum Saeviyum is a video come music album released by Actor Vijay Vasanth of Chennai 28 and Thozha fame recently. The album contains one video recording with Vijay Vasanth, Mumbai model Caroline and Vinoth Vasanth, apart from the audio tracks. This album was released in the presence of music director Yuvan Shankar Raja and Vasanth & Cos proprietor H Vasanth Kumar. The music is composed by Premji Amaran, Sami Yusuf and Dr Berne. The singers include Premgi, Karthik, Harish, Subasini, Vinoth and many others. The CD contains six Tamil songs and two English numbers. Venkat Prabhu, V Sekar, SP Saran, Vaibhav, Aravindh, Mega Nair, Snehan and Raihana were present on this occasion. The album has been promoted by Triple V Records.

Viswanathan remakes it roping the best computer generated graphics of latest trends. Featuring Namitha in lead role, something had really concerned Viswanathan and that was all about making a fast beat Kuthu number that will feature Namitha and ace actress Jayamalini. Illayaraja’s gift to Rahman Posted: 02 Mar 2009 04:59 AM CST Musicians of the film industry showed their solidarity in felicitating the Oscar award winner A.R. Rahman. The event took place at the Cine Musicians Auditorium on March 1st at 6 pm. On winning the coveted award, Rahman said, "It's the aspiration of all (the musicians)... God selected me to collect the award on their behalf." The music director said that the seeds for his success were sown by his parents. He once again repeated his famous quote: "Ella pugazhum iraivanuke (All Glory to the Almighty)." Speaking of his experience in composing the music for Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, Rahman said that he completed composing music for the film within three weeks. Rahman stated that though he wondered why some great Indian talents did not make it to the Oscar he realized later that they did not require such an award. While maestro Illayaraja presented Rahman with a gold chain, Harris Jeyaraj gifted him a gold ring. Veteran director K Balachander said "Rahman is a rare genius. Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, she stated that she was overjoyed at Rahman's double Oscar win. The actress is currently in Kolkata participating in the shooting of her upcoming film Ravana. Ash is in fact the most fortunate as Rahman had composed for most of her films compared to any other actor or actress. She was quoted as saying, "Working with Rahman has been an absolute pleasure. It's not just from Taal to Guru, but it's from 'Iruvar' till 'Ravana'. In fact, maximum of my films have enjoyed the music of Rahman and as a music lover and fan, I have always admired his music and he is a gifted musician," stated the former Miss World
