Priya Mani Charges Big

Posted: 31 Dec 2008 09:27 AM CST

Actress Priya Mani is a more confident actress after winning National Award. The actress has been very confident about the films she is signing. It is believed that she insists on reading the script of every film she wants to do, and says 'Ok' only when she is satisfied with her role.
There was a film script that was doing the rounds recently, which every heroine worth her salt was rejecting. The film was a Tamil one with Vijay as the hero. The director was frustrated with the rejections from heroines to do the film. The producers were aghast at the fact that, heroines were rejecting this film despite having a big star like Vijay as the hero.
When the script reached Priya Mani, she immediately realized the fault in the script. She suggested some changes which the director willingly took up. With those changes made, Priya Mani signed on the dotted line. The actress says she is confident that she can do justice to a difficult role, and only by taking calculated risks she can grow as an actress. Priya Mani is reportedly being paid Rs 60 lakhs for doing this film as per Kollywood sources.

'Naan Kadavul' to be censored on 30 Dec

Posted: 29 Dec 2008 04:34 AM CST

Director Bala's Arya starrer 'Naan Kadavul' is expected to be released this Pongal.
The movie is slated to be censored on the 30th of December, 2008. Industry sources are of the opinion that 'Naan Kadavul' has come out very well and has the potential to sweep the National Awards.
The movie is devoid of a facet that is a norm with feature films – Digital Intermediary (DI). Films that have not gone through the DI phase are not considered for the National Award. This could prove to be a set back for the think-tank behind 'Naan Kadavul'.
According to reports, Ilayaraja was mighty impressed after seeing the film. The maestro was joined by Uttam Singh for the re-recording.
The movie was shot in Varanasi, Kasi, Kanchipuram and Periyakulam.

Suriya comments on Aamir

Suriya comments on Aamir

Posted: 29 Dec 2008 10:52 AM CST

Suriya has hailed Aamir's Ghajini as being better than the Tamil original. "I always knew it would be better, " he said, "because it was a perfect platform for director Murugadoss to correct the mistakes he did in Tamil. He has not only corrected the flaws, but he has also bettered it. The climax scene was the perfect example. I loved the way he has built up the climax -- way different from Tamil."

Speaking of Aamir Khan, he said:"I would say he did a fantastic job. Having said that, I don't even want a comparison with him. He is like a professor to me, and I am just a mere student. A student can never compare himself with his guru. The last two years or so have been a learning experience for me. When he said that he has never been part of a remake in his career and that he would do my role in Ghajini, I was humbled. Over the two years, he kept discussing with me every minute detail. He always remained connected. Inspired by a wonderful script by Murugadoss, he worked so hard to build that body suited for the role. I would say the he worked harder than me. I know how difficult it could be to have -- and maintain -- such a body at his age. I heard him saying that in fact I was the one who pushed him to do the role. That comment makes me even more humbled. Hats off to Murugadoss and the entire team."
