Amir recommends Shruti Hassan

Shruti, daughter of Kamal was anticipated to make her Kollywood debut as a co-star for Maddy. But the project got shelved and there was no further news about her film entry. However it looks like Kamal’s daughter has chosen Bollywood to enter into tinsel town and would be featuring as the heroine in ‘Luck’ to be produced by Ashtavinyak Films and directed by Soham Shah. Luck will have Imran Khan, nephew of Aamir Khan as hero.

When the unit of Luck was hunting for a suitable heroine, it was Aamir Khan who had suggested Shruti’s name and had later spoken to her dad Kamal to get his consent. The film is said to go on floor from July 8th in South Africa and will get completed in one schedule. Besides, the lead cast, the film also has Sanjay Dutt, Danny Denzongpa and Mithun Chakraborty

Have u understand the story of Dasavatharam?

10 VISHNU AVATHARAM TAKEN BY KAMAL.

If you knew the real dasavatharams of Lord Vishnu and their characters you can appreciate the script more. Let me explain, starting with the best adapted role:

1. Krishna avatar - Vincent Poovaraghavan
Lord krishna is actually a dalit, he is dark-skinned [shyamalam]. He saved draupadi when she was being violated and he was the actual diplomat in mahabharatham. Lord krishna dies of an arrow striking his lower leg. Now look at how vincent was introduced.. he appears when asin is about to be molested and he saves her like draupadi. Vincent is the dalit diplomat, fights for land issue [soil issue to be exact] and dies from the metal rod striking his leg. Oh even five of vincent's men are drugged at P. Vasu's.. sounds familiar???

2. Balarama avatar - Balarama naidu

This is an easy given. as the name suggests and the role personifies you can easily get it.

3. Mathsya avatar - Ranagaraja nambi
nambi is thrown into water in an act of trying to save lord from being thrown into sea, though vainly. what more clue do you want?

4. Varaha avatar - Krishnaveni paatti
During the mukunda song, krishnaveni paatti does varaha avatar in the shadow puppetry. The frame freezes on it for a second. there is the clue. Moreover, in varaha avatar lord actually hides earth so as to protect life forms. Here too krishnaveni hides the germs - life form inside the statue so as to protect.

5. Vamana avatar - Kalifulla khan
remember in vamana avatar, lord vishnu takes the vishvaroopa, that is the giant form! Hence the giant kalifulla here symbolises vamana avatar.

6. Parasurama avatar - Christian Fletcher
Parasurama is actually on an angry killing spree and killed 21 generations of the particular kshatriya vamsa. Hence the real KILLER... Guess what thats what our Fletcher is! He comes around with the gun [modern upgrade for axe] and kills everyone around. I have to check if he kills 21 people though. :-D

7. Narasimha avatar - Shingen Narahashi
first of all the name itself is a play on the words singam [means lion in tamil] and narasimha [the avatar being symbolised]. Lord Narasimha manifests himelf to kill the bad guy and he also teaches prahaladha. In the movie, he shows up to kill the killer fletcher! and is also a teacher.. Lord Narasimha had to kill the asura with bare hands and hence the martial arts exponent here.. get it?

8. Rama avatar - Avatar Singh
Lord Rama stands for the one man one woman maxim, kind of symbolising true love.. Here Avatar portrays that spirit by saying that he loves his woman more than anything and wants to live for her.

9. Kalki avatar - Govindaraj Ramasamy
As you know, the hero in kaliyug can be none other than the Kalki avatar!!!

10. Koorma avatar - Bush
This is the most loose adaptation I couldn't clearly comprehend. But if you look at the real koorma avatar, the lord is the turtle/tortoise that helps in stirring the ksheera sagara and bringing out the amruth. This essentially creates war among the devas and asuras. Similarly today Bush facilitates war between you know whom... May be Kamal also indicates that this avatar is a bit dumb like the tortoise...
you see...now u knw what does the movie trying to tell you....a super-duper movie.....kamal rocks.....

NOW THE STORY.....
The 1st scene is perfectly connected to the climax, remember what Kamal says in the 1st scene, that he will not say ?Om Nama Shivaya? , but Asin tells him to chant it , but still Kamal refuses , ( in this kamal in his story tries to tell that ) Nambi believes in his god more than anything, but Asin feels ?Its ok if we change the god or chant other god?s name, its life thats most important.? Now if u see the climax its JUST OPPOSITE?.

Kamal doesn?t believe in god much and values lives of people the most?. but Asin deeply believes in god and that too this dialogue comes when both Asin and Kamal?s hand is on the god which came from the sea , and it also means that they are getting united from the place they departed hundreds of years back ( Kamal and Asin). The connection between the 1st scene and the climax in the movie shows the generation circle combined with supernatural powers of GOD and destiny?..!!

Another explanation(and this is slightly far fetched? as explained earlier) is that Govind is in fact the reincaranation of Nambi. As Nambi he couldn?t protect God and died in the name of God.In order to fulfill his Karma,he is reincarnated as Govind Ramasamy who ultimately saves the world from destruction. The idol in the end somewhat hints to this theory; his story began with the idol and it ends with the idol.

As far as the connection with Nambi character and events in 12th Century goes?
The connection is based on the ?Butterfly effect ?.
When Govind and Andal goes to the bury the idol in the sands, Andal will stumble on a particular stone couple of times? This is the same stone as the one from 12th Century hen Kothai rips her Thaali and flings it at Kulothunga Chozan?it will end up hanging on the stone. So, the implied message here is Andal is Kothai reborn in the 21s century.

During the encounter with Santhana Bharathi in the sand quarry, it is repeat of the incident from 12th century. Instead of Kulothunga Chozhan, it is the Sand Mafia which tries to inflict damage on the land.

This movie is a brilliant juxtaposition of independent characters whose paths cross, if only briefly, which is stunning example of Chaos Theory.
The idol that is drowned in the sea along with Rangarajan in 12th century by Chozha king results in a fault being developed at the bottom of the ocean and creates tremors more than 800 years later. These tremors result in the Tsunami. This again is a classic case of Butterfly Effect wherein a seemingly inconcsequential event (the drowing of the idol) saves Tamil Nadu from being wiped out off the face of the earth.

But actually kamal has not left anything for our imagination? Explanation struck the right chord, Kamal does tell to Asin in a dialogue that idol which gets sunken back then gets struck between the tectonic plates under the sea and causes tsunami?
Many people missed this dialogue i guess. Kamal?s accent was so very perfect Tamil, that many people missed it?. Being perfect Is a Problem by Itself !!!
Although the explanation is a least possible theory, that is what ?Chaos Theory? And ?Butterfly Effect? are all about. Its not just the statue that caused the tsunami, but it just started a large chain of effects which kept multiplying exponentially and finally lead to it after 800 years?.!!

Why just say this concept is perfectly illogical? it is possible? thats what i have been explaining all the while !!!
The story line is that things going wrong are made to be right which involves many people and countries knowingly or unknowingly.

Marmayogi locations

Kamal’s Dasavatharam has lived up to its hype and the film has already been declared a blockbuster. The thorough professional that he is, Kamal is reported to have already commenced work on his next project Marmayogi. The project is touted to be a period one and the latest buzz from Kamal’s camp is that majority of Marmayogi will be shot at Ramoji

Rao Film City at Hyderabad. Though there are rumors which suggest that the official launch may be held on the 13th of July, there are also talks which point to the direct commencement of shooting without the same. Script is ready and Kamal will be handling story, screenplay and direction. The cast is not yet finalized except for a small hint which was thrown during Dasavatharam audio launch that Hema Malini may be featured with shades of grey. -behindwoods

Kamal’s comments: post Dasavatharam release

June 21, 2008
As Dasavatharam is in the process of gathering overwhelming responses –good, middling and bad – everywhere, Kamal Haasan has begun opening up on Dasavatharam, post release:

On the criticism levelled by some regarding the film’s “confusing narrative”:

“Criticism will always be there. In fact, I myself am the biggest critic of all my films. ‘Dasavatharam’ is based on the ‘chaos theory’ and we have established it very well. I don’t know where critics found it confusing. All the 10 characters are established within 20 minutes of the film’s run. You must be very attentive. That’s all.

On the time taken to create the ten characters:

Over the years, I have observed many things, and these observations have found a place in the movie. Characters of the Balram Naidu hue cannot be etched out in a year or two. I have been observing the way Telugu people talk Tamil and vice versa. So, it is like I have been living with these characters for a long time. During ‘Hey Ram’, someone asked me how much time I had spent researching on Gandhi! Richard Attenborough may have to do his homework on Gandhi. I don’t have to. I grew up knowing Gandhi. He is part of our world. I have been reading about him and known him from my childhood.

The George Bush character:

“Bush doesn’t know many things...I didn’t want to go into all that. He said recently that the reason for rise of prices was over-eating Indians! In fact, Americans have turned rice-eaters, and they are eating more rice than us. We never eat hamburgers like them, nor beef, do we?”

Dasavatharam’s box office performance:

“This is the biggest opening I have had in my career. I have the figures; it is a blockbuster, no doubt. I thank the audience and the media for their support.”

Working with Mallika and Asin:

“Mallika’s character is not a lengthy one and I couldn’t interact much with her. I enjoyed working with Asin. It is tough to portray that character. She was required to change clothes for each scene, and the wardrobe wasn’t that colourful either. She really lived the character.”

The best thing said about Dasavatharam:

My guru K. Balachander moved me to tears with his praise, after watching the film. I did not expect such a response. My friend Rajinikanth said one should watch such movies only with the audience in the theatres.

Future projects:

My next is ‘Marmayogi’. And I hope I would get enough money to finish ‘Marudhanayagam’.

Dasavatharam Collections world wide

The performance of Dasavatharam is very impressive not only in the domestic market but also in the overseas segment. As per the Malaysian Box office collections report for the period June 12 to 15, the films stands in second position having grossed $601,307, being screened at 58 theatres. At the first position is ‘The Incredible Hulk’.

In the United Kingdom, where generally Bollywood films rule the roost, Dasavatharam stands at 11th position having piped Ram Gopal Verma’s Sarkar Raj to 16th place in the period June13th to June 15th. The film has grossed $ 246,677. Though the film is being screened at a few theatres, it is reported to be doing well in terms of percentage collections. news from behindwoods

Are we ready to be leaders?

June 17, 2008

Dasavatharam´s story explores the role of `chaos theory´ in our lives. Its narration depicts the complex, never-ending argument between atheists and theists. It does not end there. It also delves into contemporary global politics, the looming danger of weapons of mass destruction, the environmental concerns of the present day world, the caste issues that has been haunting India for centuries, the interfaith conflicts, the need for the man to love his fellow man etc. Many of these themes are new to Indian cinema.

The creator had to have incredible faith in the Tamil audience to bring these issues to the screen. The screenplay has been constructed with many layers to explore these many issues. Only an astute eye can catch all the levels. For the rest of us, the movie reveals a new level every time we watch it. Thus, it is definitely worth watching over and ever again!

The portrayal of the 10 different characters are astounding. Everyone in the audience will like at least a few of them. If one picks ten random people in the audience and asked them what their favourite role was, you are likely to get ten different answers. Each of the ten characters is fundamentally different and unique. Only an actor with a phenomenal ability can portray such different personalities in the same movie. The brilliance of the actor is evident in every one of the 10 roles. The benchmark for future actors has forever been raised.

The technical brilliance of the movie, the money spent and the time taken are unprecedented. The result does not fail to astonish. The camera angles, background music, CGI, editing etc takes your breath away again and again. The witty dialogues are also worth a mention here.

It is about time Tamil cinema takes a giant leap and moves to the next level, and takes its audience with it. The makers of the movie Dasavatharam have aspired to do just that. Now the ball is in the audience´s court. It is make or break time for Tamil cinema. Are we ready to make movies about global issues, science and the future? Are we ready to be leaders in innovative ideas and science in our art forms? Are we ready for movies that make the audience think, be entertained and be inspired?

What makes a Legend?

‘Jack of all trades and master of many, may be all.’ If this is true of any one person it has to be the one and only - Padmashree Dr. Kamal Haasan. Greatness is not just about how good you are, it is about how good you continue to be over years and decades, that separates the good from the great. Greatness is about being in the right place, doing the right things and living a life that puts the pursuit of perfection at the top of all priorities. If this is greatness then Kamal Haasan is surely one of the greatest that cinema Kamal Haasan has seen and will ever see. As his glowing 50 year celluloid life is poised to hit a crescendo, ready to shine at its brightest, we thought about taking all Kamal fans back in time- from the days of the toddler in Kalathur Kannamma, through the young lad learning the nuances of bharathanatyam, the assistant dance director, the beginner, the star, the master, the director, the producer, the visionary- all the way to Universal Star. Retracing the steps that took the boy from Paramakudi to the pinnacles of celluloid perfection; Kamal-the making of a legend.

Some say, ‘legends are born’. Others beg to differ, they say ‘legends are made’. When each person is born they are nothing but a mound of earth waiting to be molded, a stone waiting to be cut to diamond, a sapling waiting to be tended. Destiny chooses few among us to mold, cut and tend to greatness. Kamal Haasan was one such chosen by the hands of time to be shaped to hold greatness, not as an ornament or an attainment but as a way of life. What sets Kamal apart from other greats is that his greatness neither precedes him nor follows him, it is a part of him. Each time he performs it is not his reputation that speaks, it is that performance which is perfection personified. He does not rest on laurels nor lives in the past, he strives to construct monuments through each frame, each shot and each movie. Everyone has but one masterpiece but Kamal is one whose career is strewn with masterpieces. ‘Masterpiece-ing’ is just another day in the office for him and now he awaits us with another masterpiece which we believe will outdo, outclass and outshine all masterpieces that have been put before us in the past.

Dasavatharam, just for the sheer effort that has gone into its making will be not just a masterpiece but a masterpiece among the great masterpieces of all times and that is saying something. All people who have known Kamal’s work ethic will believe in the above statement and there is no greater testimony to a man’s greatness than the faith of the people in him.

All of us have a calling, a belief that there is purpose for our existence. Most of us keep looking for it almost all our lives, some of us are lucky enough to find it at all. Kamal identified his calling very early in life. Not many would give up regular schooling to learn dance, and more importantly, art was something he loved. Dance and music were his first passions and film was just a natural progression as the biggest stage to exhibit one’s art, as an assistant dance director. But talent as precious as Kamal’s cannot be confined for long behind the scenes, up front is where he belonged and that is where destiny took him. Of course, we are not giving destiny all the credit for creating Dr. Kamal Haasan. The hero of this tremendous
success story is Kamal himself who so gloriously lived the dream that began with Kalathur Kannamma.

Someone said, ‘destiny is a matter of choice, not of chance’. In a Harry Potter movie, Albus Dumbledore says- ‘Its not who we are or what we are that sets us apart from others, it’s the choices that we make.’ Yes, Kamal’s amazing legacy that is still a work in progress is all about the right choices being made at the right times that set him apart from all others. Not everyone (not anyone) would have dared to play a lame and unkempt villager trying to woo a girl who so obviously is not interested in him- Chappani of Pathinaaru Vayadhinile, nor the obsessed killer of Sigappu Rojakkal or the terminally ill alcoholic in Vaazhve Mayam. He made choices that were risky but set him apart. Yes, there have been setbacks but there is never a high tide unless there is a low tide and in the case of Kamal, the high tides outnumber the low ten to one. But for those who have truly appreciated what the genius of Kamal Haasan means to Indian cinema these numbers hardly matter. In cricket, commentators often use the phrase ‘Form is temporary, class is permanent’. Kamal is class and class cannot be measured, it only can be felt and experienced each time it makes its presence felt.
We have talked about his genius, his seemingly vast and immense talent, but what made Kamal Haasan the Living Legend is not his genius or talent. Yes, they played significant roles but the hero of the Kamal Haasan story is commitment and hard work, just as it is with all legends that are and have come to pass. What makes a man who has 150 movies, 3 national and a bag full of Filmfare awards, a honorary doctorate, the nations fourth highest civilian award and the title of Living Legend, sit still for six hours just to get that perfect look for a character that will appear for just minutes on the screen? What drives him to push the frontiers every time he faces the camera? We might call it the ‘pursuit of perfection’ and on principle man is not perfectible, only improvable and Kamal believes in this. That is why he is like a flowing river that never rests to enjoy the beautiful scenery that it creates by being there. The scene is for us to behold, the rivers just flows along quietly, to its next bank. Kamal creates pieces of cinematic elegance and beauty for us to marvel, he moves along to his next and the next, rising higher, pushing harder and getting better. That is why even before we have seen Dasavatharam we hear about Marmayogi and that is also why we know that Marudhanayagam will not forever remain an unaccomplished dream. That is why seven of his movies have represented India at the Oscars. Not that we care for an Oscar to recognize the genius of our Universal Star. Just that there are some people out there who are not convinced without the numbers. This is proof that Kamal Haasan is one of Indian cinema’s most valuable assets.

Dasavatharam is almost here and it might be the most appropriate time to revel in the genius of Kamal. But this is not just about Dasavatharam or any one movie. Dasavatharam or not, all that has been said above about Dr. Kamal Haasan holds true. It is not about 10 roles or one big movie, it is about the dedication of one man to what he does, the pursuit of excellence that made him the legend.

Dasavatharam- Review

Dasavatharam- Review By : Settu Shankar (oneindia)
After watching Dasavatharam- the so called magnum opus of the year- an ardent fan of Kamal Hassan will ask why indeed it is called a magnum opus in the first place. Why was all the hype, tension, cases, expectations and unnecessary expenses wasted on this average film. Once again, Kamal fails to attract Tamil audiences with his own script.

The story starts with an incident taking place in 12th century during the rule of the Chozha dynasty when Hindus were divided into Saivites and Vaishnavites. Rangarajan Nambi (Avatar No.1) is a loyal disciple of Ramanuja Azhwar. King Kulothunga (Napolean - what a fantastic performance!), a follower of Lord Siva, compels Nambi to change his religious beliefs and worship Lord Siva instead of Lord Vishnu but Nambi refuses.

The king then orders for the immersion of the statue of Lord Ranganatha along with Nambi into the sea.

After this meaningless first avatar, the movie shifts to the present scientific world. Govind (Avatar No.2), an American scientist invents a dangerous bio weapon in his lab but wants to destroy the same after realizing its dangerous consequences. But the US Govt and scientists don't allow him to do that. One fine day, Govind runs away from the lab with the bio weapon but Fletcher (Avatar No.3), a former CIA officer turned villian, chases him to get the weapon back to destroy other countries.

The weapon is mistakenly sent to an Indian address by courier where a 95 year old lady (Avatar No.4) receives the parcel. Govind immediately rushes to India and traces down the address. He is followed by Fletcher who is accompanied by his prostitute cum translator (Mallika Sherawat). The old lady refuses to give the weapon to them without understanding the danger it could cause and puts it inside a statue of Lord Vishnu.

The scientist captures the statue and starts running with it pulling Asin close relative of the old lady, along with him. Fletcher chases him till the end of the film. A foolish police officer Balram Naidu (Avatar No.5) too is in the race always chasing both these characters.

In between a Punjabi singer (Avatar No.5), US President George Bush ( Avatar No.6), a tall Muslim ( Avatar No.7), a martial arts trainer ( Avatar No.8) and a Southern district resident Annachi ( Avatar No.9) comes, does something and disappears.

Finally the tsunami comes to the rescue of the Scientist and destroys the weapon along with drowning Fletcher . The statue of Lord Rangaraja which was immersed in the sea in 12th century also appears on the shore after the tsunami.

What did Kamal Hassan really want to convey? Lord Ranganatha, the almighty who is sleeping inside the sea for centuries, finally sends a tsunami to destroy the bio weapon along with the bad guy. No doubt, Dasavatharam is really an average movie with a poor plot and characterization that fails in most of the departments and fails to attract the viewers.

What is the necessity or compulsion of portraying Kamal in 10 different get ups?To create some mindless hype or register it as a record in the Industry? Highly idiotic! Particularly the role of Punjabi Singer, Muslim tall man Kalifullah Khan, Annachi and Japanese martial arts trainer unnecessarily intervene in the flow of story.

There is no professionalism in makeup also. For most of the characters, the makeup looks very amateur. Kamal looks like an animation character playing the bad guys role because the makeup is over done. However, one must appreciate him for the hardwork put into playing so many different characters to perform in many roles simultaneously at this age.

Apart from Kamal, Asin plays dual roles for the first time but nothing is special in any of her get ups. Her performance is also not par excellence. Jayapradha appears in few scenes and does well in them. Nothing is special in Himesh Reshammiya's songs or Devi Sri Prasad's background score. Ravi Varman unnecessarily lifts the camera to top angle and shakes even inside a house.

Technically the film is far superior to any other Tamil movie in some scenes, particularly in the tsunami climax. The special effects of Jennie in the last 15 minutes simply rocks. Also the body language of Japanese Kamal is simply excellent. Watch this movie to see Kamal in 10 different avatars. But is it really enough to make a fan to watch a film? This is a big question stand before Kamal fans those known as the lovers of good movies like sensational Mahanadhi or Kuruthipunal!

Kamalji, we expected a lot from you!

Verdict: Not up to expectations! Credits
Cast: Kamal Hassan, Asin, Jayapradha
Music: Himesh Reshammiya
Camera: Ravi Varman
Direction: K.S.Ravikumar
Producer: V.Ravichandran

Movie Trailer

Behindwoods - There were a few Sachin Tendulkar fans during the 1999 World Cup who held the big banner that read ‘Cricket is our religion, Sachin is our God.’ The caption caught on quite well among Sachin fans worldwide and was seen for quite some time. Now what is this caption doing in the Dasavatharam preview? Well, the thought occurs if cinema was religion instead of cricket, then who would have been God? We know that some of Kamal’s fans refer to their Thalaivar as Aalwarpettai Aandavar and yes, if cinema was a religion, Padmasree Dr. Kamal Haasan would certainly be God.

You might feel that this might be premature elation considering that Dasavatharam is still a good three days away from theaters. But take a look at what has gone into the making of the movie and you will realize that just the effort and nothing else is worth celebrating.

One man doing 11 roles, 10 on screen and one off it (as scriptwriter) is a first in the history of world cinema. You have heard a lot about the story, probably more than what you have about any film before its release. A story that spans 9 centuries and takes you across the globe on a big adventure and on a canvas so big that Indian cinema, maybe world cinema, has never witnessed. Here’s a look at just how big Dasavatharam is.

Dasavatharam – the cast:
One Kamal Haasan in the cast is good enough to make a movie more than interesting, here we have 10 Kamals in one movie- the experience will be something special. Then there is Asin in the biggest role of her career. Yes, the young lady has already proved her mettle but this time she is rubbing shoulders with a legend in every sense of the word. Mallika Sherawath as the CIA agent, Napolean as Kulothunga Sozhan, Jayapradha and others.

Dasavatharam- the technology:
Everything associated with the movie has been given extraordinary care and no one but the best in the world have been involved with the movie at each stage. Take for instance Andy Dixon, the world renowned stunt choreographer who has to his credit films like Transporter 2. He is the man behind the reportedly huge stunt sequences. Michael Westmore, who transformed Jim Carrey into The Mask, is the one who has handled the make up department. Six hours a day for Kamal is what was spent only on make up to get the right look for one of the characters and it was 4 hours for Napolean. The levels of perfection can only be imagined. The visual effects, too, had an expert from Hollywood handling matters: Brayn M Jennings, an Oscar nominee.

Dasavatharam- the research
When there is history and mythology involved you never want to take chances because you never know who you might end up hurting, and some people derive acute pleasure by feeling that they have been hurt and create a lot of trouble. Dasavatharam did not want any of this and so brought in the top brains of the country in history from IIT, Tanjore University etc. and made sure that the script is foolproof.

Dasavatharam- the firsts:

• The first film to feature on actor in 10 roles (you already know that)
• The first film to shoot an Indian metropolis landscape from a helicopter
• The first Indian film to use a huge man-erected water reservoir (5 acres) for shooting (probably the Tsunami scene)
• And much more……

There have also been reports that the movie includes a yet undisclosed clip of the 2004 Tsunami that was captured with a handycam by an individual in Indonesia.

The technicians are world-class but the man who coordinates them all, is the captain, the director-K.S.Ravikumar. He is the master of entertaining cinema, always hitting the right chord with audience. To put it simply, he is a genius who has his hand on the pulse of the people and that’s why his films rarely fail and when equipped with a Kamal script and provided with a team that is nothing less than the best in the world, he can work wonders.

But who made this dream come true. The vision was Kamal’s, the execution was KSR’s and the team with him was fantastic, but without Aascar Ravichandran, things might have been a lot more difficult. Shooting in more than 10 locations in India, USA, Singapore etc., getting the best technicians in the world, having complete faith in the makers’ dream and warding off all troubles that keep coming when something so big is made, Aascar has been the perfect producer.

And, even when it comes to the release, Aascar is proving once again why it is one of the biggest names in South Indian cinema. 1000 prints overall, an overseas release that could give jitters to even a Hollywood film and publicity that no one can miss. Dasavatharam is as much Aascar’s dream as it is Kamal’s.

Dasavatharam is a team effort, a team of professionals who loved cinema and shared a dream. The dream unfolds on screen in a few days. Indian cinema will be done proud.

Walt Disney buys Dasavatharam

Behindwoods: Dasavatharam hasn’t yet released, and it already seems to have hit the jackpot. For perhaps the first time in Tamil movie history, a famous Hollywood studio has purchased the distribution rights for Canada from Aascar films. The studio? None other than Walt Disney.

Disney will release the movie in several majormultiplexes with as many as 18 prints. Normal for an Indian movie releasing in India, but for an Indian movie in North America this is huge. At last the ardent Tamil movie fans in Canada can see a Tamil movie in digital projection with state of the art surround sound and in a movie complex which will be showing, alongside Dasavatharam, blockbuster Hollywood hits. Have Tamil movies arrived, or not?

1000 prints for 'Dasavatharam'

IndiaGlitz-
Scores of technicians are burning the midnight oil this week to make thousand prints ready and available to all the theaters that screen the mega budget movie 'Dasavatharam'.

The producers of the film are also printing posters featuring all the ten roles so that audiences can familiarize themselves with the characters. Every major theater across Tamil Nadu is screening the film.

The story of the film could be something like this….a scientist invents a machine that helps people travel through time. A bunch of baddies want the technology for their ulterior motives. The scientist, possibly eccentric, wants to safeguard it desperately. But somehow it lands up in the custody of an old woman in Tamil Nadu.

Could the movie be complete without using the unique technology? That is where the fun is going to be…. Traveling to the 12th century and back….probably with many stops in between. This should be a roller coaster ride of fun and frolic and to have a person of Kamal Haasan's caliber, this should be a joy ride.
