For instances, Venkat Prabhu and Director Jeeva for their recent films Dhaam Dhoom and Saroja are swaying at the box offices. But, before couple of days, one of the best critics in Bollywood handed us with couple of DVDs, 'Red Corner' and 'Judgment Night'. We had to regret soon after watching these DVDs for these were the greatest replicas that our filmmakers have done. Venkat Prabhu who boasts about making trendsetting flicks seems like should have DVDs of 'Judgment Night' and Hindi Movie 'Sunday'. It was all their own intentions of diverting our attention saying that it would as 'Babel' and 'Vantage Point'. Well, the concept of four friends making their way to watch a cricket match and getting wedged between unexpected situations over one night was the exact at Judgment Night. The only difference is that Saroja is about cricket match while Judgment Night is for a boxing match… And if you want to spot the exact story of Judgment Night, glimpse it across the reviews. The concept of One day about a girl getting drenched in serious situation was taken from Sunday played by Aayisha Takia. Red Corner was the exact story where Director Jeeva had taken into the lines of Dhaam Dhoom. Jeyam Ravi breaking into the medical stores and getting accessories were quite the same as 'Bourne Ultimatum'… | | Director Shankar’s Evil Mantra Posted: 22 Sep 2008 10:51 AM CDT  Director Shankar has been once such filmmaker who swaggers around pumping out lots and lots monies from producers' pockets. Not so genuine is he, for his handiworks are so jerry-built. Remember, what is so picky about this director is mingling the best technicians, emptying the pockets of producers and filling on them, importuning his assistants to watch recent released DVDs, extract the best traits, simple tone their colors and present them on the screen.
Just take a note, the multiple personality disorder in Anniyan, Graphical representations in Jeans, The term of 'Black Economy' in Sivaji and the whole centering concept of 'Endhiran (Robot)': These unique concepts were rendered by none other than famous writer Sujatha and Shankar had just impinged those credits into his shoes. And now, to say about his deed, Alas, its worst thing of disloyalty what he can do to this soul of Sujatha.
One worst lollapalooza cunning of this sort, Shankar has removed the name of Sujatha from the English title of star-casts and crewmembers that is spread across the far-flung corners of the world. Aren't you getting along what we are up to? Director Shankar on releasing press notice of technicians and crewmembers involved in the film had mentioned the name of Sujatha in Tamil Press release while the English version had Sujatha's name missing.
Shankar is cunningly brisk with the fact that English reaches all across the boundaries of language and so the credits shouldn't go to Sujatha for his dialogues. Well, Tamil version doesn't reach so well since; it would be read only by Tamilians all over the World. | | Shirin back to South Posted: 22 Sep 2008 10:45 AM CDT  Shirin is headed back to Kannada film industry after trying her luck in Bollywood. Shirin, who has earlier worked in films like 'Dhruva' and 'Bhoopathy', is learnt to have signed a six-film package agreement with SPR Productions Ltd. The six movies will be made in different south Indian languages. Apart from this, she has signed other Kannada and Tamil films as well.
Moreover, three Tamil movies – 'Poova Thalaiya', 'Vil' and 'Cash' – featuring her as the lead actress are yet to be released. However, the comeback actress has got her priorities in place. She has decided not to do any more item numbers. Actresses like Nandita Das and Shabana Azmi did this to give authenticity to the character for Deepa Mehta's Water. | | Anushka and her whopping one crore Posted: 22 Sep 2008 06:58 AM CDT  The Tamil film 'Billa' starring Ajith and Nayantara is being remade in Telugu with Prabaas playing the lead role. Actress Anushka has been roped in to play the part that Nayantara performed in a flamboyant way. Nayantara sizzled on screen with terrific costumes and even featured in a two piece bikini in the film.
After the producers of the Telugu version highlighted the fact that Anushka too should act wearing a two piece bikini, the actress consented but then has asked for a whopping amount of rupees one crore. The producers are reportedly okay with this.
'Billa' was shot extensively in 'Little India' in Malaysia in a stylish, youthful and extravagant manner. Audiences loved the cinematography, background music and costumes amalgamated with the good looks of all the actors.
The Telugu version too is expected to follow the same pattern. Anushka is a very successful actress in Telugu films and has it in her to recreate the same magic that Nayantara had successfully done. Anushka had featured in one Tamil film 'Rendu' alongside Madhavan but then the film didn't do so well at the box office.
With Anushka's remuneration reaching a crore of rupees she becomes the second highest paid Telugu actress after Ileana. | | Vikram shakes a leg with Mumait Khan Posted: 22 Sep 2008 06:35 AM CDT  Vikram shakes his leg with Mumaith Khan for the remix of the yesteryear hit number 'Pambarakannalae' for his forthcoming release 'Kanthaswamy'.
The movie, directed by Susi Ganesan and produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, has musical score by Devi Sri Prasad. Shriya plays the heroine.
The remix of the yesteryear Chandrababu song is being shot featuring Vikram and Mumaith Khan. According to reports, a major portion of the film has been completed.
The movie also features Vivek in a prominent role. Efforts are on to release 'Kanthaswamy' by this year-end. | | Meera Jasmine axed from Shankar's film Posted: 22 Sep 2008 06:21 AM CDT  Actress Meera Jasmine has been shown the exit door from director Shankar's production venture 'Ananthapurathu Veedu'.
The movie is being produced by 'S' Films and is directed by Naga, who had directed several thrillers for the small screen. 'Ananthapurathu Veedu' features Nanda in the lead role. Meera Jasmine was initially assigned to play the female lead in the film.
However when shooting commenced, Meera Jasmine reportedly messed up with her call sheets and could not make it for filming. Sources close to the production unit said Naga had conveyed the hiccup to Shankar, who is currently directing Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in Peru for 'Endhiran'.
After discussion with him, Meera Jasmine has reportedly been axed from the movie and a search is on for a suitable heroine. | | 3 churches attacked in Karnataka Posted: 22 Sep 2008 05:36 AM CDT The Centre's rap to Karnataka over attacks on churches in the state has not stopped Christian prayer halls from being targeted. On Sunday, for the first time since the attacks by Hindu mobs on churches began last week, two churches were desecrated in Bangalore. There was another attack in Kodagu district, about 300 km from Bangalore. Neighbouring Kerala wasn't spared either with two churches being desecrated near the international airport in Nedumbassery, close to Kochi. The assault was decried by Kerala Catholic Bishops Council, and the state home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan warned the miscreants of serious consequences. In Bangalore, the St James church in Mariammanapalya near Hebbal and the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus in Rajarajeshwarinagar were desecrated by miscreants early Sunday. Police said they detained seven people and suspended a constable for negligence in protecting the shrines. The fresh attacks bring the BJP-led state government's ability to deal with the anti-Christian violence into question. Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, however, said the attacks were an "organized conspiracy" to disrupt the state's law and order. The CM admitted that there have been lapses in the policing system in dealing with the repeated attacks. The government will hold a cabinet meeting on Monday to discuss the situation and chart out measures to counter the possibilities of more such incidents. In Kodagu district, members going for prayers to Brethren's Church at Nellihudikeri Sunday morning found portions of the front glass facade of the church broken. They lodged a complaint with the police. Mystery surrounds the incident as two constables were guarding the church. Following Yeddyurappa's admission of failure of the policing system, the state government has pressed the Karnataka State Reserve Police and Home Guards into service. Mobile patrols are on alert in Bangalore. City police commissioner Shankar Bidari has asked his forces to pull up their socks and ensure security of all churches. Tension prevailed in the St James Church neighbourhood after news of its vandalisation spread. The incident came to light when a woman entered the church at around 6 am on Sunday and switched on the lights. Two gold-plated crowns and money had been stolen. In Rajarajeshwarinagar, a broken glass case where an idol of infant Jesus was kept was damaged in an early morning attack on the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus. The incident is said to have occurred around 5 am, when the sound of breaking glass woke up the neighbours. Church authorities and security guards rushed out to find a large stone in the church compound. The attackers had fled. The police have raised the possibility of a burglary in St James Church incident. The devotees burned tyres and blocked traffic protesting against the alleged apathy of the state government in reining in the attackers. Opposition leaders who visited both the attack sites slammed the government. Community leaders have urged the devotees to stay calm and appealed to the police to nab the culprits. But this time Vadivelu and Vijayakanth have crossed swords after the comedian said that the actor-turned-politician's supporters attacked his house. Chennai police registered a first information report against DMDK leader and film star Vijayakanth and 40 others on Sunday following an attack on the house and office of leading Kollywood comedian Vadivelu. The action was based on a complaint from the comedian who had insinuated that Vijayakanth's supporters were behind the incident since he had a running feud with the actor-politician over the past year. However, when contacted, a DMDK spokesperson described this as an attempt to foist a case against the party's leader and insisted that party cadres were not involved in the violence. According to Vadivelu, a group of around 40 persons carrying wooden logs had descended outside his house on Velayutham Street in Saligramam at around 10.40 am and started pelting stones, damaging windowpanes. They also pushed aside the security guard Chintamani. Vadivelu and his family members, who were inside, were not hurt. A little while later, the mob headed towards his office located on the nearby Vedavalli Street and allegedly ransacked the premises. "This is not a laughing matter. It is little over a year since they (Vijayakanth's supporters) first clashed with me (Sept 12, 2007) and I am due to appear in court on Monday in connection with that case, and now they are compounding the matter," Vadivelu told The Times of India. A year ago, separate cases were registered against Vadivelu and Vijayakanth's manager Sathish Kumar following a quarrel over parking of vehicles outside the former's house. The film will be India's official entrant to the coveted awards ceremony. This Aamir's home production was selected unanimously by the 10-member jury. Suneel Darshan, the head of the jury, said that TZP was selected solely for its brilliance. TZP managed to emerge the winner after
the jury ruled out the Marathi films Tingya and Valu. Valu was in fact a strong contender for the Academy Awards as it was showcased in a number of international film festivals.
TZP, a critically acclaimed film, was produced and directed by Aamir Khan who also played an important role in it. Darsheel Safary, the eight-year-old around whom the film revolves, was applauded by everyone for his excellent performance.
However, we could not gauge Aamir's reaction immediately as he is out of town and is expected only on Tuesday. | | Mudhal Mudhal Mudhal Varai Movie Photo Gallery Posted: 22 Sep 2008 05:10 AM CDT           Mudhal is a multifaceted term that means first and invested capital. The movie justifies both the meanings, for it is the debut for the director and some 98 actors and in a word, simply capital, that it not only denotes a winner but also the southern metropolis. Sans usual cinematic melodrama, 'Mudhal Mudhal Mudhal Varai' is refreshingly realistic and full of city slicker peppy yuppies. The dialogue is simple, the humour is tongue-in-cheek and the incidents are rather a plethora of tales of tinsel town. Yearning to direct a movie Hags (Satyajit) is pessimism personified. His lady love Sindhu (Anuja Iyer) suffering from a heart ailment is holding her breath to tie knot on the day of Hags' first success. A golden-hearted assistant director (Charan) and another actress (Keevna) egg Hags on towards the first shot of his dream project. Director Gomatam (a former protege of director Mani Ratnam and ace cinematographer P.C. Sriram) obviously knows his forte and sticks to it. Fatima's breath-taking frames of Chennai are pure champagne. As usual, Thotta Tharani has performed splendidly in the art direction department. B. Lenin's slick editing is another plus. Keevna, a British doctor in reality, plays the role of an actress with pure perfection. Satyajit (a shutterbug in real life) and Iyer have done their parts with aplomb.
